Position: Part-time Checker/Apprentice Cashier

Job Summary:
  • To operate a cash register and manage the checkstand area, to provide the store's customers with the most accurate and efficient checkout service possible, and perform stocking and other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all cash register functions according to Piazza’s customer-focused procedures, and maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service.
  • Tasks include a count of the cash drawer with the ability to perform a cash audit of the contents in the assigned cash drawer at both the start and end of the actual work shift; add up or record the purchases of customers into a cash register efficiently and accurately; become knowledgeable concerning the Produce Code Book and learn basic produce codes; be knowledgeable in and be able to recognize the various types of merchandise in the store; and be able to process all the various types of store sales transactions accepted by the store including authorized accounts receivable sales, EFT transactions, manufacturers' coupons, gift certificates, etc.
  • Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures, and to participate in the store’s Safety Committee.

Position: Head Clerk/Checker

Job Summary:

  • Be qualified, knowledgeable, able and prepared to perform all of the duties of an experienced grocery clerk when assigned or requested to do so.

  • Notify manager promptly of any irregularities or discrepancies in the operating results of the applicable work shift for cash variations.
  • Use correct pricing as listed in the store's Pricing Guide and ensure that all merchandise is properly priced.

Position: Courtesy Clerk/Bagger

Job Summary:
  • To provide satisfactory service and assistance to customers at the checkstand; provide carry out service of customers' purchases to their vehicles; perform other tasks as assigned in an efficient manner within company policy.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations.
  • Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned by store manager.
  • Bag customer's purchases in accordance with established store procedures.
  • Sort and return return-to-stock items (go-backs) back to their normal shelf locations with priority attention given to refrigerated and perishable items.
  • Perform price check functions; retrieve items for customers from inaccessible areas or that they are unable to handle.
  • Obtain items from shelves to replace exchanges or items that a customer desires to purchase.
  • Assist customers with purchases including carry-out service and loading into their vehicles.
  • Gather shopping carts and take them to designated areas and pickup points.

  • To cut meat and prepare related products in the variety, size, quality and trim prescribed by company and department standards.
  • Price and display product in cases as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Assist in wrapping and labeling product as required.
  • Assist in checking and verifying meat department receivings when required.
  • Take received and prepared products to refrigerated storage, shelf and display areas.
  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, weighing and breaking down meat products.
  • Assist in keeping refrigerated cases and display shelves properly stocked and faced at all times according to product movement and department standards.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.

  • Must be knowledgeable concerning nutritional industry supplements and products by brand name, and how these products interact with each other and other food products.
